• Starting Salary for Cadets: $23.36 /hr
• Starting Salary for Police Officer: $35.00 /hr
• Starting Salary for Senior Officer: $40.30 /hr
• Starting Salary for Detective: $41.30 /hr
•  Starting Salary for Police Sergeant: $47.74 /hr

• Laterals with less than 5 years certified police officer experience: $35.00 /hr
• Laterals with 5+ years certified police officer experience: $40.30 /hr
• *Experienced Lateral Officers are currently eligible for a $15,000 hiring incentive for a limited time and 160 hours of leave.
• Laterals are eligible to test for Detective after 36 months of service with SFPD.  
• Laterals are eligible to test for Police Sergeant after two years of experience as a Senior Police Officer with SFPD.

Shift differential

• 5% for Swing Shift (based on officer’s base hourly rate) e.g. $40.30 X 5% = $42.32 hr
